Illustration Friday ~ Breezy
Illustration Friday's theme this week is 'breezy', so I finished working on this little for-fun picture. I started out on a page from an old book about Lappland, then pencil, then acrylic, then almost threw it away, then scanned in to photoshop and finished it. It's also fitting because we are holed up in our house waiting out a blizzard...out of milk, cheese, eggs...hoping it stops tonight!It has been a very breezy winter here to say the least. Hope all of you are cozy and warm in your igloos too!

Illustration Friday-'The Blues'
Northern sea ice is melting! Scientists are predicting that by 2050, 2/3 of the world's polar bear population could be extinct, and sea ice could be completely gone by 2070. Polar bears survive mainly on a diet of seals and walrus. All of these animals are totally dependent on the ice. Native Arctic people are also dependent on the ice and the animals. Loss of sea ice also means increased maritime traffic through the Northwest Passage which throughout history has not been a dependable shipping route because of the ice. Also, more offshore oil exploration and drilling due to open waters.So, you can see why I've painted a polar bear clinging to a piece of ice, for this week's topic of 'the blues'....
